Nice, France | Honeymoon Part 2

Sunday, November 9, 2014

While traveling through France on our honeymoon, one of the cities we visited was Nice, in the French Riviera. This city was absolutely breathtaking. We spent three nights and four days here, and also took a half-day trip to Monaco. On our first night in the city we ventured to Old Town, just a 5 minute walk from our Airbnb apartment, and had an amazing Italian dinner. We split a pizza, spaghetti bolognese, and an insanely delicious lemon Italian ice (aka: The Honeymoon Diet).
P.S you can read about our time in Paris here

The next morning we hiked La Colline du Château, which offered the most breathtaking views of the Port of Nice and the Promenade des Anglais. After our hike we decided to cool off by indulging at “Florida Beach”, where we rented two lounge chairs and enjoyed some beachside cocktails.
For our last evening in Nice, we had the most amazing meal at Le Comptoir du Marché. This was a recommendation from our Airbnb host, and lucky for us they had a cancellation the night we walked in and we were able to get a table. Otherwise, a reservation is definitely needed! I cannot recommend this place enough, and of course this was another night where I didn’t bring the camera!

Here are my recommendations for Nice:

Emilie’s Cookies: delicious coffees, smoothies, and yummy bagels!
Le Comptoir du Marché: dishes inspired by the bounty of Nice. Make reservations!
Walk along the Promenade des Anglais. Great for people watching, and I also recommend splurging for a daybed or lounge chairs at Florida Beach.
Hike La Colline du Château.
Take a day trip to Monaco. It’s about a 30 minute train ride, and you get to enjoy views of the Côte d’Azur along the way.

Up next: Marseille, France!
